No. The pinion seal would be at the differential input.
The only seals on the driveshaft itself would be on the slip yoke. You're probably thinking of the pinion seal, which is at the front of the differential, behind the input yoke to the differential.
There is either a problem with the actuator in the front differential--BAD ACTUATOR. Are there is a problem with the differential ---RING and PINION asembley.

I believe it's called a trans-axle output shaft seal. Could also be the front differential pinion seal.
As far as I can tell the front wheel hub is supplied as a unit with no adjustment provided for. The pinion nut holds the drive axle on, it should be torqued to 74 ft. lbs per the factory service manual.
