In an engine be it a car or motorcycle with motorcycles for example you have a Dt125LC being 2 stroke or 4 stroke it is an engine so it has a piston the DT is a 2 stroke single cylinder so you know that you have one piston that gets charged by a spark which ignites the fuel to push this fist like hammer (PISTON)running through the centre of the engine the RPM on your bike is the amount of times it is going up and down in your engine RPM revolutions per minute. If you have a bigger bike say a GSXR-750 you'll notice it has four exhaust ports at the front of the engine so this bike has 4 pistons which is the powerhouse of your machine and it will have four spark plugs which will fire in the order of the first then the third then the fourth and last the second cylinder and keep going round firing each piston in that order which gives compression which gets turned to power your back wheel.
