'The Beekeeper's Apprentice' series is the story of Sherlock Holmes after he retires from life as a detective in London and moves to the countryside to raise bees. He meets a young orphan girl during the War, and recognizes a kindred mind. Holmes begins training Mary Russell as an apprentice, and they solve a series of cases together. Laurie King has a firm grasp of Holmes' character, and her Holmes is just as crabby and eccentric as the original.
