The Book of Mormon is the record of a family which left Jerusalem in 600 BC, about the time of the prophet Jeremiah in the Bible. They were led by God through the wilderness and across the ocean to the American continent (probably South America). The Book of Mormon then chronicles the civilizations formed their descendants over the next thousand years, their wars, their social customs, their religious practices, and most importantly, a visit from the resurrected Jesus Christ shortly after His Ascension. The Book of Mormon ends when most of these descendants have been killed in a war and their last remaining leader records the final chapters, then buries the record.
