A typical small block Chevy weighs about 500 fully dressed. A 283 may be slightly lighter, but I'd bet it's every bit of 450. Especially if it still has the stock iron heads and crank.
Standing in the front of the engine, It will be on the right back side of the distributor. It will have an electric wire pluged into the top of it and it will screew into the engine block.
