What is the point of answering questions with well thought out researched answers when any idiot can come along and erase your answer?

Hopefully the supervisor of the topic will notice the change on their watchlist, check the change for vandalism and correctness, and in the process notice that the answer has been deleted. If the answer has been vandalized the supervisor has the authority to suspend the user's privileges to the site. Should you find an answer that has been vandalized, please send a message to the supervisor of the topic or any supervisor and it shall be replaced and the offending user dealt with. Unfortunately, WikiAnswers has its share of vandalism. The vast, vast majority of users that are here for information and knowledge can help the supervisor in dealing with vandalism by reporting it when it is noticed.

What is it about the nature of Wiki that you seem not to understand? People sign in from all over the world to submit and to try their hand at answering questions. It is a very dynamic place FULL of human beings. It is true that questions are not always the best, and answers are not always accurate or even serious. But you should find some thought provoking material here, if you look a little and keep an open mind. You might also enjoy the site more if you try answering questions. You may find that it is not as easy as you seem to suggest. Some questions and categories are monitored very well and provide very informative answers. As the site is not uniform, you may find that in the several categories that you frequent the questions are badly answered, but in other sections, questions are well-answered.

Why does everyone explain answers more than they need to?
Most users on the WikiAnswers site take a lot of pride in answering questions to the best of their ability and beyond. Wouldn't you prefer receiving a detailed, well-thought-out answer to your question than one that is so vague that it doesn't seem to answer your question at all?

Millions of people come to Answers to ask and answer a variety of questions. I first came to answers in 2008. I was looking for information about a book character. I Googled my question, and it showed Answers.com as the first result. After getting my question answered, I tried answering a couple questions I saw. "I know that!" I thought to myself. Soon, I was hooked. I liked helping people. I liked sharing my knowledge. That is how many people come to the site, get involved, and then come back day after day!
