The Loyalist thought since Great Britain started the colonies they should rule the colonies, they believed God was against treason and that the people of Great Britain should obey the king. Yet, some just thought it was safest to be on the Kings side.
It depends on your point of view. If you supported England than a tory (loyalist). If you supported the revolution than a patriot solider in the Continental army

The Battle of Lexington and Concord on 19 April 1775, is the first "major" battle in the revolutionary war. but what really started it was the tea, stamp, sugar, quartering, and intolerable acts. another reason could me no taxation without representation. and not allowing the colonist to be independent when they asked to. all of that was from a colonist point of view. But from a loyalist's point of view it was the colonist fault because they wrote 17 things( <----not accurate i don't think) to the king of England saying what he's doing wrong and how he should improve those things.

There was a strong political divide in the United States as to how to view the French Revolution. At the beginning, the majority perspective was positive, seeing the French Revolution as being parallel to the American Revolution. The minority perspective, which became more popular later, was that this upsurge against the traditional order was violent and unnecessary.
