In Sylvia Plath's 'The Mirror' the poet (a young woman) looks into a mirror and the mirror promises her it will tell her when she becomes old.

The poem always reminds me of the Magic Mirror in Walt Disney's Snow White (the film was a great favourite with intellectuals in the 1950's).
