Please check your pocket change. ALL coins in the U.S. carry the word Liberty on them, so that is not a distinguishing characteristic.

In general you have to know the coin's mint mark and condition in addition to its date. Also, there may be more than one variety of a coin during a given year, which is what happened with 1937 nickels:
