The usual answer to this question is "transportation" however, this is correct only if you mean "anthropogenic" or manmade sources. If you include natural sources "Nature" beats man hands down. Of those sources "Decomposition" is the leader.

Natural sources such as particulates from windblown dust, carbon dioxide from decomposition, methane from outgassing of the tundra and ruminant flatulence, heavy metals in water in the North of Canada, chloride and bromide contributed to the atmosphere from sea water spray, radon from granite, nitric oxides from lightening, volatile organics from pine forests, sulfur dioxide from volcanoes, ozone from stratospheric ozone by mountains are much greater than the manmade sources.

As an example man made carbon dioxide accounts for about 6 billion tonnes a year while natural sources produce several hundred billion tonnes a year
