sounds like ignition module. Check for spark while cranking engine when it decidedly shuts down on you.

On any car with an engine light on, go to an auto parts store and have them scan the trouble codes and either fix whatever the problem is that's illuminating the light, or have the person reading the codes to erase them using the scanner.

The red Check Engine light and the amber Service Engine Soon light serve the same purpose. It is unlikely that a vehicle would have both. The trouble diagnostic codes have to be retrieved in order to determine if the problem is performance or emmissions related.

That mean that you have a problem with the engine. If you can read the engine codes you could get an answer for the problem. Repairs manual have the instructions of how to read the codes. Faulty computer also turn on the engine symbol.
I would check for any fault codes first with an obd tool, is the check engine light on?
