The "W",winter mode button is pressed and you probably put the gear selector lever in position "3". Put selector lever in "D" and press the "E" economy mode button.

The light is on because there is a problem with the SRS (air bags). The light will go out when the problem is repaired. It is very hazardous to work on this system and for that reason it should only be repaired by a trained professional. This is not a DIY repair.
Hi All, I have a V40 Esate and having followed all the owners manual procedures getting nowhere was informed by the local dealership that the lights can only be turned off by them as it is a software issue and has to be limked to the Volvo manufacturers to comply with their regulations. Some makes of cars have their lights on all the time, usually if the manufacturer is Swedish, where daytime-running-lights (or DRL) are mandated by law. If you check the cars which have lights on during the day, you'll notice they'll be Volvo, Saab or some other Nordic manufacturer.
