An embryonic stem cell. In 2006, Shinya Yamanaka made a groundbreaking discovery that would win him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine just six years later: he found a new way to ‘reprogramme’ adult, specialized cells to turn them into stem cells. These laboratory-grown stem cells are pluripotent – they can make any type of cell in the body - and are called induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPS cells.
Only embryonic stem cells are naturally pluripotent. Yamanaka’s discovery means that theoretically any dividing cell of the body can now be turned into a pluripotent stem cell.
When a cell has the ability to change into another cell its called asexual reproduction,
Bow wow's baby momma is fine. and shes a model.
Pece out it wowie.

Metaplasia
We call this specialization or differentiation.
well cells at the beginning are just sex cells then when they go through a process called meiosis they become a baby egg cell
Well when the matrix cells above the dermal papilla in the hair follicle become hair cells it is called "differentiation." They then become keratinized and are pushed up. Hope this helps.
This process is called mitosis.
The process by which different cells express different genes depending on their needs is called differential gene expression

"Differentiation" is the word you are looking for.
Cellular Differentiation
mitosis is a process where somatic cells split. that means a single cell become two, two become four, four become eight, and so on. somatic cells are non reproductive cells, like muscle cells. for reproductive cells, like sperm, the same process called meiosis

Sex Cells (called Gametes) are made by a process called Meiosis.

Somatic cells are the cells that form the body like skin, blood and bones. These type of cells go through the cell division process called mitosis. Gametes, or germline cells, like sperm and ova go a different cell division process called meiosis.
It is called sexual reproduction.
There are many ways in which cells become different. They could take the shape of many different kinds of things.
