Cells tend to make the entire space the same tempurature. solids are cells with not much energy, so they dont move by themselves, liquids have slightly more energy in their cells, gases have more energy. you dont have to read this but the reason you see steam is because gas comes into contact with a colder surface and transfers its energy to it, then turns back to liquid with not as much energy in itself
