Convection, as heat from the mantle is transferred to the lower crust, which can move very slowly in response to the increased upward pressure. The heat makes the rock liquid (magma) in some areas, allowing it to flow upward to the surface, thus creating SpongeBob SquarePants!

The forces that drive Plate Tectonics include:
It was once thought that mantle convection could drive plate motions. Early textbooks showed mantle convection cells, like in a beaker of hot liquid on a Bunsen burner, pushing plates along from below. Convection in the mantle, certainly plays a role, but doesn’t explain how some plates move faster than the convective currents beneath them. What would cause that? Current dynamic models have plates moving as part of a gravity-driven convection system that pushes young hot plates away from spreading ridges and pulls old cold plates down into subduction zones.

The forces that drive Plate Tectonics include:
Convection in the Mantle (heat driven)
Ridge push (gravitational force at the spreading ridges)
Slab pull (gravitational force in subduction zones)
There has to be an energy source for the plate tectonics to move. The earth interior is active and consists of several layer with specific composition. The activity of earth interior generate heat which led to the movement of the plate tectonnics in earth listhosperuc layer.
Earth, a majesic planet exists in our universe. With its mega-formation we called Big Bang which formed Earth and became a magnificent order of the living system in our universe, leaving the earth with so many phenomenon which some of them have been revealed but the others still be mysteries. One of the phenomenon of the earth is natural disaster such as earthquake, tsunami, and landslide. How can it be happened? This question actually be a really big mysteries for centuries. From the period of philosopher until the scientist era.
The earth is alive. There is an activity inside the earth crust which undegoned by the earth it self. one of the theories regarding about the earth activity is about the movement of the earth’s lithosperic layer called plate tectonics. In order to comprehend the earth within its phenomena including the oceanic phenomena, one substantial thing is to understand the movement mechanism of plate tectonics.
Earth Structure and Composition
Earth body contains several layer of interior. Observation to this studies has led scientist to conclude that the interior of the earth is very active. Geophysical investigation of the earth’s interior have provided insights into process related to this activity. These studies have indicated that there are large-scale convection currents within the earth’s mantle and that it is these currents which cause the movement of plates. Moreover, geological data suggest that plate movement have played an important role in the development of oceanic ridges, island arcss, and mountain belts (Seyfert et al, 1979).
The earth interior contains of three layers. There are the core, the mantle, and the crust. The earth’s core contain of iron, nickel, and troilite. It comprises the 16 percent earth by volume and 33 percent by weight. Earth mantle consist of many rocks which contains minerals such as perdotite. The outer layer is crust, which comprises less than 1 percent of earth volume & weight. It contains many kinds of mineral such as feldspar, quartz, pyroxene, and hornblende. Based on the mechanical properties of the earth interior, it is divided into several layers. They are lithosphere, asthenosphere, meosphere, outer core, and inner core. The plate tectonics extend within the lithosperic layer which is belong to the crust and partially mantle (Seyfert et al, 1979).
Plate Tectonic
Plate tectonics is a theory which describes the movement of earth lithosperic layer. The lithosphere is broken up into plates. The large-scale movement of the plates cause the movement of continent and the seafloor (Seyfert et al, 1979). The concept of the plate tectonic was first introdue by W. Jason Morgan in 1968 wich the earth surface is divided up onto a number of rigid plates bounded by midocean ridges, oceanic trenches, great faults, and active fold belts.
Convenction plays an important role in the process of why plates break apart. How plates move is generated by the forces originating in the earth inner core, the solid iron which has a radioactive characteristic. The plate tectonics move at various speed and in different direction above the asthenosphere. The condition of asthenosphere which has a high temperature and tremendous pressure which causes the asthenosphere to be deform and flow almost plastically beneath the earth surface (Anonymous, 2010).
the hot gooey molten rock in the mantle makes 'convection currents' because the warm liquid rises up cools, falls back down warms up and rises up again, creating convection currnets(convection currents also create earths magnetism). Now these move 'tectonic plates' which are almost like giant puzzle pieces. The edges of these plates is called a ridge. most are present underwater aome create mountain renages. Like 'Himalayas' or the 'mid-Pacific Ocean-ridge'. These plates slowly move over teh years almost at the speed at which your nails grow. The ridges are also home to major 'Volcanically' active regions like the 'Pacific-ring of Fire'. These places are home to either extremely tall (fold mountains) or extremely deep(trenches).
Tectonic plates are there in land and fill out of the magma and lava. Some time tectonic plates are vibrating because of magma and lava
Convergent and divergent plate
cooling expands the crust
Plate techtonics
how are volcanoes and the process of plate tectonics related
No it does not, the molten core inside the Earth is what drives plate tectonics. The Sun has nothing to do with the process.
Plate tectonics is a continuous process of individual plate movements involving the entire lithosphere.
