While the majority of people infected with arbovirus never become sick, those who develop Japanese encephalitis become very ill. Some outbreaks have a 50% Death Rate.
People can get encephalitis through viral infections, such as herpes simplex virus, West Nile virus, or Japanese encephalitis virus. Other causes include bacterial infections, parasites, or autoimmune reactions. It can also be a complication of certain diseases or conditions.
Primary encephalitis can happen to people at any time of the year (sporadic encephalitis), or can be part of an outbreak (epidemic encephalitis).
The illness, which can be fatal, is transmitted from one infected person to another by the tsetse fly. While it can occur globally, encephalitis lethargica is especially prevalent in Africa.
The people in the movie have encephalitis lethargica.
The prognosis for most people with Raynaud's disease is very good
Japanese encephalitis primarily affects people living in or traveling to rural areas of Asia and the Western Pacific where the disease is endemic. Those at higher risk include individuals who work outdoors, such as farmers or those involved in agricultural activities, as well as travelers who spend extended periods in affected regions. Children are particularly vulnerable due to their lower levels of immunity. Vaccination is recommended for people in high-risk areas or for those planning to spend considerable time in such regions.
The prognosis is excellent for very mildly affected people with Klippel Feil syndrome. With careful medical attention, the prognosis can be good for more severely affected individuals as well.
If infected people do not develop symptoms there will be no easy way to know who is infected, therefore, infected people will not be treated or quarantined and will be free to spread the disease to other people.
Many patients (about 5-15%) develop other complications.
they got infected by rats
People can be still infected but it is easily cured now.
