From the factory, most cars use a 195 degree thermostat. No matter what temp thermostat you have in the car if the system is in good shape it should stay near that temp. Sitting in traffic will always cause them to heat up. If you are having problems with the temp being too high make sure your radiator and water pump are in good shape. Another area a lot of people overlook is the fan clutch. This makes a LOT of difference on these cars. If it's bad make sure to get a good one that is both RPM and Temperature sensitive. Also, with your car......having no real grill to speak of, make sure you have a good fan shroud and the factory "plastic" air dam to pull as much air into the radiator as possible.
