Reformat the hard drive like you would any other drive.
If you want to remove the partition table and create a new one, or it is a new drive, then boot your system using a win98 bootable disk then type Fdisk hit enter. Then do what you want in FDisk. Otherwise skip to the next step.
If you are in DOS, just do Format and then the drive letter, such as:
Format C:
If you want to create it as a bootable drive, make sure the drive is marked as Active in Fdisk (or whatever partition manager you use) and then do Format /s C:
The /s means to install the OS loader files.
Or, if you install or reinstall Windows, you should be given the options to clear the drive and/or partition and format it.
Best way to do this is to simply reformat your computer/hard drive.
The quickest way to clean data from a laptop computer is to completely reformat the hard drive on the laptop computer. If you are looking to only wipe certain things from the hard drive there is no faster way than selecting and deleting them folder by folder.
Hard drives must be formatted (and usually a file system must be set up) before they can be used to store data. There's normally no need to reformat a drive unless something significant changes. For example, if you decide to repartition a drive, you will (probably) need to reformat the partitions afterward. (The reason for all the weasel words like usually, normally, probably is that not all operating systems and file systems work the same way.)Also, if a partition becomes corrupted somehow, you may have no choice but to reformat it in order to use it again.
Back up all your impotant files. Reformat the hard drive and reinstall operating system and other applications. This works the best way.
You can activate Windows automatically without calling if you are connected to the internet, assuming your hardware hasn't changed.
Defragment of your hard drive on a monthly basis is one way of maintaining the hard drive.
You get another memory storage device, such as an external hard drive, and you copy everything on your hard drive onto the external hard drive, and keep it safe. That way, if your hard drive crashes, then you can take it out, and plug your external hard drive in, and work from that.
The external hard drive is a great way of backing up your data.
Generally speaking, hard drive cases do not offer more protection than another case. If you drop a hard drive while in its case, the resulting shock may displace some of the hard disk platters which will ultimately prevent the disk from being read. Additionally, a fully enclosed hard drive case is not healthy for the hard drive if the case does not provide a way for the hard drive to radiate heat. Please note that hard drives are one of the hottest (temperature wise) devices running in your computer. The friction caused by a spinning hard drive is what generates the heat in a hard drive so you must ensure that the hard drive has proper cooling available to it.
To recover data from a RAW hard drive the hard drive must be intact in some way. Connect the damaged hard drive as the slave drive and another hard drive that is in working order as the master drive. This should allow for file transfer as long as the RAW drive is not too far damaged.
It depends on what you mean by 'DUMP.' If you mean to just get rid of everything, then just reformat the drive. If you mean to SAVE everything then their are many ways to do this task. The easiest way is to copy your files/important information to a) another drive, b) a CD or c) a DVD. The easiest way to copy the files to another drive is to use Norton Ghost or some other program like that (this will require another drive to be present) and it will make an exact copy of the whole disk drive. The danger here is that if you have a virus of any sort, it will be copied along with you other information.....
Hard drive cloning takes the contents of one hard drive and transfers it to another. The easiest way to do this is by using an imaging utility like Acronis or Clonezilla.
