Duct silencers operate by restricting the airflow through a system of baffles exposing as much of the air stream as possible to sound-absorptive filler materials and/or resonant cavities. As a result, they have "self-noise" characteristics, meaning that they generate noise themselves due to turbulence in the airflow through their internal baffles. Silencers should be located far enough upstream of any acoustically sensitive space to ensure that the noise they generate is adequately attenuated before it reaches the occupied room.
Another frequent misuse of sound attenuators involves their placement in the duct system. If a silencer is located within a mechanical room, noise may enter the system through the sheet metal duct after the silencer. If a silencer is located away from the mechanical room walls, noise may escape the system through the sheet metal duct before it is attenuated by the silencer. Ideally, a sound attenuator should be located within or immediately adjacent to the mechanical room's walls.
To hide pipes, wires or duct work.
Yes cooling requires larger duct work. Typically you would size the duct work for the cooling system and heat will work fine as well
If your apartment does not have duct work, the owner of the building has not had it installed. Perhaps they felt it would be too costly to install, or perhaps they are simply not interested in or see a need for duct work.
For round duct, measure from one side to the other, and you have the diameter.
The cochlea of the inner ear contains a membranous tube called the cochlear duct. This duct is filled with fluid that vibrates when the sound waves from the stirrup (stapes) bone strike against it. In the cochlear duct are delicate cells which make up the organ of Corti. These hair-like cells pick up the vibrations caused by sound waves against the fluid, then they transmit them through the auditory nerve to the hearing center of the brain.
I need to get some duct cleaning work done in an office building I just bought. Can I do this myself or do you recommend a specialist?
Diffrent color duct tape could work or sparkles.
Do I need special tools for hood duct cleaning? Is regular duct cleaning type equipment satisfactory?
The answer is quite simple, your duct work is not insulated somewhere. What is happening is the really cold air is blowing through the duct work and where it is not insulated, its causing condensation to form. It then builds up and starts dripping. You can either go to a hardware store and ask them for duct wrap or just buy a roll of fiberglass insulation and wrap it around and secure with duct tape.
I work really long hours but need to get my ducts clean. How can I find someone who does residential duct cleaning in the evenings?
It depends on where you live. You should either consult your local phonebook or type "duct work cleaning" into an internet search engine.
The duct work does not need to be different from the rest just because of the I beam. Just be sure there is room so you do not compress it.
