A device to test if wires are electrically connected. Typically a small lightbulb and a battery are used.
A cable tester is used to test the electrical connections in a cable or other wired device. There are two ways to test for a connection: continuity test and resistance test. A cable tester can also test for a short by determining voltage.
A continuity test is a simple test, used to determine whether there is a break in a circuit. This can be done, for example, using an ohmmeter which passes current through the circuit from its internal battery -a deflection (analogue meter) or a '000' reading (digital meter) indicates that there is continuity. A continuity test MUST NOT be performed on an energised circuit, as this will likely damage the ohmmeter and present a shock hazard to the user.
Blaniers Test is used in electronics to establish and locate short circuits and/or open circuits in cabling systems. It is a simple continuity test.
If the test shows that there is a continuity between the phase leg and the neutral with no load connected, then that circuit should not be energized. If the circuit was energized then the fuse or breaker protecting that leg will trip the circuit open.

a continuity test is the checking of an electric circuit to see if current flows. That it is in fact a complete circuit.

A continuity test, just turn the lights on and if there is continuity the fixtures will let you know.
The Fluke T5 is voltage continuity and current tester, meaning that its purpose is to test the voltages, ohms and amps of electrical devices used primarily by electricians.

You don't megger test continuity. You test for that with a continuity meter or ohmmeter. "Meggers", as they're often called, produce high voltages to test the integrity of a conductor's insulation.
A continuity test is performed using aids. The aids are placed across a chosen path and the flow of the current is checked.
A continuity test checks to ensure that there is no break in the conductors. An insulation test checks to ensure that the insulation is sound.
