What colour "Smoke grey" is is a matter of personal interpretation. Take a good look at the smoke coming from the next several fires you see. Smoke from a cigarette is very nearly white, while smoke from a burning tire is very nearly black. Add to that, the "Smoke grey" from one manufacturer to another varies so widely that I would be hard pressed to chose the "right" one.
My best suggestion if you are painting a picture with smoke in it is to work with 6 parts white & 1 part black and thin it to a very translucent colour, then apply it in thin layers so that it is darker (and more opaque) in some places than in others.
If you are painting a room, try the various manufacturers and take a colour chip (sample) home (or to your clients') with you and make the decision in the room. Lighting and other features (furniture, flooring, window treatments) will have an impact on how the colour will look.
Smoke can be white, grey, brown, black, or other colors depending on what substance is burning.
Grey-ish
For steam from and, in emergencies, smoke to escape. CO2 is colourless and so when the smoke is white, it is steam. When it is black or grey, it is soot, carbon that has not combined with oxygen correctly.
A mix of black and white. Make sure it is metallic paint or you will just have grey!
There are formulas to get the colour you want. If you mix in equal portions you will get a very light silver grey that will not be anything special.
Green + Blue + A hint of Grey = Grey Blue Paint :)
Color is decided by genetics and nothing else. To get a grey paint you must breed at least one grey paint to another paint horse. Grey tends to be a dominant color and may override another color. The surest way to get grey is to breed two grey horses together.(And Paint is a breed, pinto is the markings.)
NO ! -Use white to make grey lighter.
