I am not quite sure myself, but i have researched and wanted this answer to the question, too. Not too many websites say specific numbers, but i have come across one website that says the the whale numbers have decreased 70% in the last three decades. That's all i know, but i hope you find the answer!
The most recent estimation (2008) was of a population between 350 and 400. This has risen from a 2001 figure of just below 350.
people thought as if they were a threat to all humans so they go after them and kill them which makes the population decrease. So it mainly started to decrease around 2008.
