You then pull the housing toward the front of the car. Bottom of that housing has a ball stud that fits in a socket on a small ear on the headlamp housing. What year is the forester? The route I have chosen is a.tang band 6.5" subwoofer in a 4 cubic ft custom enclosure tuned to 38hz under both front seats.

Depends on why it is loose. Why would you be working on a vehicle that is under warranty? Take it back to the dealer.
A 2009 Forester is in all likelihood still under warranty. Take it back to the dealer. Never know when it may not just need tightened but replaced.
In the front of the engine where the pulleys and belts are located. It's behind the pulleys under the black plastic cover.
Under the hood on the right (passenger) side on the firewall near the hood hinge. It is black with white lettering "FWD". Subaru does not recommend that you place the vehicle in FWD mode for every day driving. It is for use only as a test mode because it does change the handling characteristics of your Forester. --Ken
