In the 2005-2009 automatic, it would be 1st=45mph 2nd=65mph 3rd=95mph 4th=145mph (top speed) 5th=145mph. Manuel trans would be= 1st=45mph 2nd 70mph 3rd=110mph 4th=145mph (top speed)5th=145mph.

The maximum speed of a mustang?

The same thing dictates a Mustang's top speed as every other car. It all depends on horsepower/torque, weight, aerodynamics, and gearing. Since the Mustang has always had multiple engine and gearing options, there simply isn't one answer. It all really does depend on what each individual car has in it. An old big block car with 4.50 gears will most certainly be redline limited. A six cylinder car with 2.70 gears will most certainly be drag limited. Not to mention that the same car with the same engine will have a different top speed with each different gear ratio. So sorry, no straight answer for you.

What is the stock rear end gear ratio of my 1979 mustang 2.3 turbo 4 cylinder with a 4 speed manual transmission?

The gear ratio in the 1979 Ford Mustang turbo four is 3.45:1

Why are engines permited to redline?

Maybe because in an emergency situation, such a risky overtake, you don't have time to shift to an upper gear, so it gives you an extra ammount of speed.

How can you get a high speed on Mustang GT?

What are the gear ratio's for the Ford 5R55S 5-speed automatic transmission?

Ford 5R55S Automatic 5 Speed Transmission 1st gear 3.22 to 1 2nd gear 2.29 to 1 3rd gear 1.55 to 1 4th gear 1.00 to 1 5th gear .71 to 1 (This is a late model Ford Mustang Transmission) * not to be confused with 5R55E, 5R55N, 5R55W they have different gear ratios

How fast can you go in second gear?

The maximum speed a car can go in 2nd gear is primarily dependent on the gears in the car's transmission. It can also be affected by the overall diameter of tires on the car as well as the maximum engine speed of the car's engine. To determine the maximum speed for a specific car you would need to have knowledge of that specific car's maximum engine speed, the transmission's 2nd gear ratio and final drive ratio, and the overall diameter of the tires on the car. Adding a larger wheel/tire combo will increase the top speed in each gear. Increasing the car's maximum engine speed, or redline as it's commonly referred to, via an aftermarket chip or computer reflash, will allow a higher maximum speed in each gear as well. Without modification, most factory cars will have a maximum 2nd gear top speed between 60mph and 70mph. This figure typically goes up for larger engined vehicles and down for smaller engined vehicles. The more gears a car has will generally mean a lower maximum speed in the first few gears. A sportbike can achieve a speed over 100mph in it's 2nd gear

Is it safe to shift at the redline in a stock 1995 Honda prelude si?

If you shift close enough to the redline, your tach should drop below as you go to the next gear. If you hit the redline, you will get fuel cutoff. It is designed to prevent you from damaging your motor.
