Wilde, Percival (1887-1953), playwright. The prolific dramatist and author was born in New York and educated at Columbia. Although few of his works were produced on Broadway and none was a commercial success, he is reputed to have had more plays performed regularly by amateur theatres than any other contemporary dramatist. Among his popular titles were The Aftermath, The Lady of Dreams, and The Reckoning. Of his many textbooks, the best known was probably The Craftsmanship of the One‐Act Play.
