Song of the Lord or just song. There is no difference. The Bhagavad-Gita is called the Gita...for short. ~ Eric Putkonen
dear friend, literally there is no difference between bhagwad gita and shrimad bhagwad gita. actually your right question seems to be, what is the difference between shrimad bhaadwad puran and shrimad bhagwad gita. shrimad bhaagwad puran is a written document of doings of various supposed GODS while shrimad bhagwad gita is also a written document of sayings of ultimate LORD KRISHANA for the shake of human beings. human beings can attain their supreme goal of being human.
The Bhagavad Gita is also known as the Iswara Gita, the Ananta Gita, the Hari Gita, the Vyasa Gita, or simply the Gita
In the Bhagwat Puran, the main context of the life journey of Shri Krishna has been included, while the teachings of Shri Krishna have been included in the Gita. Gita is the voice of Satchidanandghan Parameshwara Sri Bhagwan Sri Krishna.
"Scholars of an earlier generation opined that bhagavad gita was composed between the 5th and the 2nd century BCE. Radhakrishnan, asserted that the origin of the Gita is definitely in the pre-Christian era"
