England and Scotland are both part of the United Kingdom, a political union that was formed in 1707. While Scotland has its own devolved government with powers over certain areas such as education and healthcare, it is still ultimately governed by the UK Parliament in Westminster. The relationship between England and Scotland has been complex and sometimes contentious, but they share a long history of collaboration and conflict.
