A lot of factors need to be taken into account to answer this question. How many miles? Which engine? was it properly maintained?Trans axle filter and fluid changed regularly? I've owned and sold quite a few Gen 2 Taurus/Sable (`89-`95) platforms over the years. In just about all configurations(3.0l, 3.8l, and 3.4l SHO) automatics and manuals. When well maintained, they are excellent vehicles. My current model is a rust-free 1993 Sable LS 3.8L/AXODE a/t, every option(including the extended range fuel tank) it had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it. I changed the oil and filter, the trans axle fluid and filter, plugs, plug wires, rotor and cap, replaced a few vacuum lines, and it runs and drives like a new car. So, I now have a 24 year old Luxury sedan that I would drive across country without worrying about anything but gas money. And I only paid $700.00 for it, three months ago. I also have a `92 Sable parts car ($50.00) and two `94 Taurus GL's (one driver, one with a bad trans axle) In my opinion, they are stable in the snow, decent on fuel, and power to spare. (Not fond of the SHO, the 3.4L Yamaha engine can be problematic.)
