Honor killing is not permitted in Islam. The remedy for honor killing is to educate people and to tell them that it is sinful activity punishable under law and by Almighty Allah as well.

I agree with Answer 1, but I do not believe that it is strong enough. In addition to just "telling people" that it's illegal, government officials should make an active show of trying and severely punishing people who do this heinous act. It should be treated like any crime of intimacy, like rape, and the family who committed this act should be similarly shamed. This will serve to discourage people from doing the act on a purely perfunctory level. As it currently stands, too few honor killings are punished and those that are often result in short or unimpressive jail terms.

It's only a shame when honor is misplaced. There is no honor in the killing itself, honor should be in serving an honorable cause & having the conviction to die if need be.
