The role of an executive director of a foundation, and any nonprofit, is to lead the organization, manage the day to day functions, and the staff. In the case of a foundation this will include managing the grant making process.
They are also tasked with implementing polices, raising money, acting as the spokesperson (usually) and ensuring the organization's mission and vision is reached.
