Diadasia diminuta is the binomial, Latin or scientific name of the globe mallow bee. The bee gets its nectar and pollen only from the globe mallow [Sphaeralcea spp]. In return, it helps the plant by spreading some of the pollen on the male parts of other globe mallow plants.

The globe mallow bee doesn't live in hives. Instead, it lives just below ground surface. In its underground home, each offspring has its very own room. Above ground, the globe mallow bee builds a chimney- or turret-like structure at the entrance. Scientists still don't know why the structure is built
