Earlier this year I purchased a 1984 316 with Onan engine for $1100.00 dollars from our local Deere dealer. They were asking $1400.00 dollars. Mine was probably above average condition, with no visible damage to fiberglass. It runs fine, but uses conciderable oil. It also came with a 46" deck in good condition. If you have more questions concerning JOHN DEERe garden tractors, use should check out, www.weekendfreedommachines.com , a great forum site with tons of information.
EDIT: The 1978 model 316 was a 1-year-only model and is totally different from the later 316 which was produced beginning in 1984.

Not sure where this guy buys his tractors, but he should hit the books and come back. The average sale priced of a JD 850 is around 5800 dollars. His estimate of 500 dollars for a loader wouldn't buy the bucket, let alone the entire attachment. The loader runs about 3000 dollars for this tractor.
$2000 - $5000 depending on condition and accessories
