Is autocad a type of animation software?
Autocad can be used to create 3D models. Not the best to use for animation though. For animation and using Autodesk programs, I would suggest using 3DS Max. There are many free tutorials online to help with 3DS Max.

Personally I would choose Autodesk Maya. I find it easier then 3ds Max but just as powerful. Maya also has very powerful Cloth tools, Toon shaders, Hair/fur.
