The book is about Paul Zindel as a younger boy, his sister, and mother. They have moved to a new home, but there is a slight problem with cockroaches. The mother use something to get rid of them, but she doesn't read the directions and the cockroaches hide. Paul Zindel ends up having all the cockroaches fall or "rain down" on him. It is a short, comical, easy to understand book. I hope you enjoy it.

It is likely that the setting of "It Rained Saturday Afternoon" is a rainy afternoon on a Saturday, where the atmosphere is filled with the sounds and smells of rain. The setting could be a suburban neighborhood, a park, or any outdoor location affected by the rain. It might evoke feelings of introspection, nostalgia, or coziness.

I think 'it'd' is not a correct short form/contraction. Maybe: It had rained all day. = It'd rained all day. But I think this is not acceptable English
