The .22 air rifle has an effective shooting range of about 60 yards. Much beyond that the pellet lacks the velocity to fly level, and lacks the speed to be effective for hunting.
Yes
The Olympic air pistol and air rifle events use a .177 caliber pellet. The biathlon (skiing and shooting) uses a .22 caliber rim fire rifle.
no those are airguns. .22 bullet rifles are used in the Olympics --------------------correct answer:----------------- .177 caliber air rifles are used in the Olympics. These are high quality match air rifles.
Yes, any firearm is capable of killing someone. There have been fatal shooting with air rifles and slingshots as well.
Some air rifles were available in .22 caliber.
.25 Caliber is the next size up from .22 Caliber Here are the sizes of pellet calibers. .177, .20, .22, .25, 9MM (.0357) 45 cal and 50 cal I believe there are a few .25 cal spring rifles, however most everything above .22 cal are in the world of PCP (Pre Charged Pneumatic) air rifles and require a special hand pump or SCUBA tank to charge them to 2.000 to 3.000 PSI. These air rifles are used in professional and Olympic shooting and in medium to large game hunting. The cost of these rifles starts around $350 and goes up beyond $3000. The cost of the charging equipment for these rifles can add another $200 to $400.
Air rifles ranges vary depending on they're caliber, power, power plant and the pellet being used. It also depends on your application, The hunting range of an airgun is usually less than the target range. For a .177 caliber air rifle shooting at 1000 fps your maximum hunting range is probably about 40 yards. Your target range is probably about 100 yards max, since you don't need the power to take down the game at that range. For a .22 caliber air rifle shooting about 800- 1000 (with a 14.3 grain pellet) Your hunting range is more based on your gun's accuracy, than it is power. I would say the max is about 75 yards. Target could be about 130 yards or more. For a big bore, your range is usually about 100 yards or more depending on the game.
Rifles and shotguns. Rifles may range for .22 rimfires up through .223 caliber centerfire.
It is really hard to locate local shops that carry big bore air rifles. All you can usually find are .177 caliber or maybe .22 caliber. I like shooting .25 and larger calibers, usually PCP's (PreCharged Pneumatics) The best places are on the WEB places like Pyramyd Air, Air guns of Arizona or XP-Airguns. See the links below.
Of all the Ruger pellet air rifles, only one model comes in .22 caliber. The Ruger" Air Magnum" comes in both .177 and .22. It is made in China and is sold in this country through Pyramyd Air (see the link below.)
Your question is a little too vague to answer. There are many different Air rifles with different power plants. Some are stronger than others so the all have different ranges. They also have different calibers like .177, 20, 22, 45 and 50 cal. these also all have different ranges. Many of the more powerful ones have the same range as regular rifles.
Not sure what a regular gun is- but biathlon rifles are fairly heavy very accurate .22 caliber target rifles. They have precision made barrels and triggers, and sights that are designed for shooting at specific targets. They are not made for long range shooting, or hunting large animals. I shoot a similar rifle (but from a bench rest, not skis!)- those rifles are capable of shooting 5 bullets into one slightly ragged hole at 50 meters. However, I would not like to carry one all day when hunting- they are very heavy.
