One Perspective:

As mentioned above, man was created on the 6th day of creation; one day short of the complete seven-day week. And it's revealed in the book of Revelation:

"...Let the one who has understanding solve the number of the Beast [the world calls him 'Antichrist'], for it is the number of a MAN. His number is 666." (Rev.13:18 NLT New Living Translation)

God's number of "completeness" is "7"... as the seven-day creation account is completed with the Holy Sabbath day of the LORD.

And His number of "perfection" is "3."

The book of Revelation, for example, is a parable, composed of "three sets of sevens": the Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, and the final Seven Vial plagues of God's wrath poured out on the earth at the end of man's allotted time of rule on the earth, before Jesus descends from the clouds onto the earth with His Government. These "three sets of sevens" result in the "PERFECT COMPLETION OF GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION" for the world, the re-birth of man -- which results in a "new beginning."

"...'Look, I AM making all things new!' And then He said to me, 'Write this down, for what I tell you is Trustworthy and True.'" (Rev.21:5 NLT)

Man on the other hand is "incomplete" without God's Holy Spirit... the very thing that flesh and blood man is born without... and the very thing that man needs in order to be "re-born" [to undergo his second birth] into God's Divine, Holy, Immortal Family at the end of God's present plan:

"For His Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that WE ARE GOD'S CHILDREN." (Rom.8:16 NLT)

"All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and THEY WILL BE MY CHILDREN." (Rev.21:7 NLT)

Just as all men struggle to be born in the flesh the first time, the biblical evidence points to man's obvious "incompleteness" regarding his ultimate "spiritual creation" -- that future "second birth" toward which all men strive in this first taste of all our lives, experiencing both good and evil. Each man is developing his own character and unique personality; whatever it may turn out to be... whatever sort of "child" they may grow and develop into, with Righteous Character or bad character. With God's Holy Spirit... or without it.

The number "666" we're told, is "the number of a MAN" [perfectly incomplete and short of the Glory of God]. It falls just "short of 777," or "Complete Perfection" -- the Perfection of God.

Many equate the number '6' to mankind as Adam was created on the 6th day of the Creation week.
Additionally, in The Bible, when a number is used 2 or 3 times like '666' it is usually for emphasis and the triple number is usually the ultimate - like the prophetic final 'beast' will have the number 666.
