The title 'Sri', also spelled 'Shri' or 'Shree' is a Sanskrit honorific title used as a prefix to the names of those considered holy, saintly or someone regarded with great reverence.
The Title 'Sri' is not gender specific, although human misunderstanding of the Sanskrit word and its significance has created the word Srimati - which is used for women.
The word itself is a mantra designed to be used by the yogi in reference to ones Guru or Spiritual Superiors in Japa Form - although this tradition has become 'diluted', as it were, by westernized influence and misinformed scholars.
'Sri' is a very holy Mantra and should be used with the greatest respect and upmost love towards a Guru or Sage.
In referring to a Great Master or Sage sometimes the Sri is used two or three times which has a unique occult significance to the Mantra Adept which he or she will discover. Save to say that using 'Sri Sri Sri' is an even more holy name prefix used in honoring something or someone of High Spiritual Status!!!
