Word processors are essential in the modern offices. Office produce all sorts of written documents that can be created with a word processor. Without it they would have to be typed on a typewriter or hand-written. That would be a lot slower and reduces the amounts of things that can be done to a document like proper layout, spell checking, producing multiple copies of documents. A word processor makes a major contribution to offices and are an essential piece of software to have.
