On my 2004 Ford Explorer XLS with a 4.0 6 cylinder flex fuel engine there is a Vehicle Emissons Control Information (VECI) decal on the UNDERSIDE of the hood (front near center). The decal states the spark plug gap should be from 1.32 mm to 1.42 mm converted to English units .052 to .056 inches.
The spark plugs on a Ford Explorer are replaced by first disconnecting the battery. Remove the spark plug using a spark plug socket. Replace with the factory recommended spark plug.
