Two cycle (two Stroke) engines generally have one spark plug per cylinder. So a four cylinder, 2 cycle engine will have 4 spark plugs.
I have a Bolens Model BL 150, 31cc and my Operator's Manual calls for a spark plug gap of 0.020 in. (0.5 mm).
The spark will depend upon the type of engine being used, either 2 cycle or 4 cycle. If it is a 4 cycle, chances are the engine was produced by either Tecumseh or Briggs.
compression and ignition
On the inline six cylinder engine , spark plug # 6 is the rear spark plug On the V6 engine , spark plug # 6 is the rear plug on the drivers side of the engine On the V8 engines , spark plug # 6 is the 2nd plug from the front on the drivers side of the engine
The correct spark plug for a 5 hp. Tecumsen 4-cycle motor is Champion J-8 (RJ17LM). The plug gap is 0.030 in. (0.76 mm)
A typical lawnmower has a one-cylinder engine, with one spark plug.
Most commonly a 13/16", but a 3/4" is possible.
It is important to gap the spark plugs of an engine. The spark plug gap measurement for this engine is 0.044 inches.
Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Use some heavy gloves or a set of insulated pliers to hold the spark plug wire about 1/4-inch from the engine block (ground) and crank the engine - you should see a spark jump from the wire to the engine ground. For a better check, use another spark plug and put it on the spark plug wire and use it as a "jumper" from the wire to the engine ground.
the spark plug provides the spark necessary to ignite the fuel and air in the engine, which allows your engine to run. without spark plugs, your engine wouldn't start.
