It's never explicitly stated but it appears that a wizard's staff is partially a badge of office, a sign that one is a member of the order of wizards (hence Saruman charging Gandalf with coveting the staffs of the five wizards and Gandalf breaking Saruman's staff immediately upon casting him from the order). The staffs also appear to be magical objects through which at least some of a wizards magic is invoked.
There is not a singular novel by JRR Tolkien, as he wrote many. A few that I can name off the top of my head, (And that I love) Are The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Hobbit, and Unfinished Tales. I'm sure I missed a lot.
When you observe the close friendship of Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee throughout The Two Towers, as well as that of Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took, you can easily conclude that JRR Tolkien considered friendship an extremely valuable asset. To have a friend as close as Sam or Merry means companionship, devotion and love.
John Ronald Reuel. His family usually used his second name, Ronald.
J.R.R. Tolkien never remarried after the death of his wife, Edith Bratt Tolkien, on November 29, 1971. Tolkien himself died less than two years later, on September 2, 1973.
I believe it was published in 1954.
In the films the two towers are Orthanc (Saruman - Isengard) and Barad-dur (Sauron - Mordor).
The first in the trilogy is The Fellowship of the Ring, then comes The Two Towers and last but most assuredly not least, Return of the King. That is the order that JRR Tolkien wrote them, that is the order that Peter Jackson produced them, and that is the order which I highly recommend you watch them.
* The Fellowship of the Ring * The Two Towers * Return of the King
The Two Towers, Books 3 and 4 (It was actually a sixtology).
I'm gonna go ahead and state the obvious by saying The Lord of the Rings trilogy (and The Hobbit, too). But there's tons of other things he's written, most of it having to do with Middle Earth and the goings on inside of it. Such works include: The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, Unfinished Tales, and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
The trilogy based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien is "The Lord of the Rings." The three movies in the series are "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King."
