Desk Sergeant is a term common to police departments, referring to the officer who sits behind the desk at the entrance to the department. I've never heard of any such term in the military - at least, not in the Army, and I'm doubtful it would be present in the Marines, as well. Soldiers will have rotating duties for Charge of Quarters (CQ) or Staff Duty, but the NCO in charge will be known as the CQNCOIC or SDNCO... never a "desk Sergeant".
