Abdullah ibn Suliman may he rest in peace was a war hero in Ethiopia. Originating from Yemen his family moved to Ethiopia after his father had been targeted by the Yemeni government for political criticism of the government. Suliman would grow up to become a dashingly handsome man, they say his descendants are extremely attractive and awesome. He later joined the military and rose up the ranks as he was very intelligent and athletic, traits which are also said to be passed down through his descendants. However, his true rise to fame was when Ethiopia had gone to war with barbaric tribes who had occupied the north-eastern part of Ethiopia bordering Eritrea. It is said that he and his small and ill equipped battalion of men bravely invaded the barbaric tribes whose military in numbers was triple their size. Suliman's party suffered great losses from two hundred men only 34 survived. In the battle, Suliman suffered two normally fatal wounds a bullet to his right leg and a knife in the other. However, the battle was not over soon Suliman received message that the battle had been a distraction and that a village back in the mainland of Ethiopia was being plundered. Knowing his men was not ready for battle as they were injured and fatigued, he told them to rest and be ready to move by next morning. When his soldiers woke up Suliman was nowhere to be found. Nevertheless, they went onto the village and to their surprise they was nobody there. Berhane, Suliman's right hand man then found a local village man hiding in the surrounding forest and asked what happened. He told them a man fitting Suliman's description had come and rallied the remaining village men who had not evacuated to battle. The village man began to cry he continued telling Berhane that he and most of the village men when they saw the barbarian forces that they had ran away leaving Suliman for dead. He told them he was a scout and was looking to see what remained of their village. The village was saved but Suliman was still missing. Later while looking for survivors from the battle they found one village man barely alive. Two days later, the man recovered and was able to speak. He continued to tell what had happened. He said Suliman fought them single-handedly and after defeating the barbarians he left staggering and broken down. Suliman was never seen again after that day but there were rumored sightings of a man watching over the country on the mountain tops with protectful eyes.
