Dorothy, from Kansas, runs away with her dog Toto. A twister whips up. Dorothy falls and hits her head. She dreams a tornado has lifted the house up suddenly dropping it in the land of Oz.
Unfortunately, the house falls on the sister of the Wicked Witch of the West. Glinda, the Good witch of the North appears and magically places the ruby slippers from the crushed witch onto the feet of Dorothy. This angers the Wicked Witch of the West, since she believes the shoes rightfully belong to her.
Anyhow, Dorothy wants to find her way back home to Aunty Em and is told that the only one who can get her there is the wonderful "Wizard" of Oz, who resides in the Emerald city. Dorothy is instructed to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the land of Oz in search of the Wizard.
Along the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy meets the Scarecrow, Tin-man and Cowardly Lion. Song and dance tell the tale as the four make their way to see the Wizard to have their wishes granted. The Scarecrow wishes for a brain, the Tin-man for a heart, the Cowardly Lion longs for some courage, while Dorothy simply wants to go home.
Received by the Wizard, they are told they must bring back the broom belonging to the Wicked Witch of the West in order for their wishes to be granted. So off they go once more to retrieve the wicked witch's broom. Suddenly a swarm of flying monkeys drops down on them, pulling the Scarecrow apart limb-by-limb and scooping up poor little Dorothy to take back to the wicked witch's castle.
The Tin-Man and Lion put the Scarecrow back together again and make their way to rescue Dorothy from the clutches of the wicked witch. To make a long story short - the Scarecrow catches fire; Dorothy tosses water on him to extinguish it, but inadvertently douses the Wicked Witch in the process. The water shrivels the witch to nothingness. The guards hale Dorothy as their new leader giving her the witch's broom as reward.
Dorothy and her entourage make their way back to the Wizard, who grants all their wishes, except Dorothy's. Unfortunately, the hot-air balloon he expected to take her back to Kansas in, floats off without her aboard. But, Glinda appears once more to tell Dorothy she has always had the ability to go home - all she nees to do is click the heels of the ruby slippers together three time and repeat " There's no place like home... There's no place like home"...
Suddenly she is back at home in Kansas with Aunty Em, Toto and all her friends.
The end.
