What is the story theme of new moon?

This is the short version; it took me a while to write, so I . The book is obviously a lot more informative, and I suggest you read that, and Twilight, because this will not make any sense if you haven't read the book or watched the movie (Twilight).

NEW MOON SUMMARY:

Basically, after a disastrous birthday party for Bella involving her accidentally cutting her finger and having Jasper try to attack her, Edward and his family leave Forks. For what feels like forever, Bella is crushed, depressed and wounded until she starts to hang out at Jacob Black's house at La Push.

For her, it feels like her sadness is healing a little bit, until Jacob vanishes. Even more distraught, Bella is sad beyond words. When she takes a walk in the woods, and discovers vampire Laurant hunting, a big wolf protects her. She later finds out that Jacob and his pack have become sort of guardian angel types; protecting Forks from Vampires.

Bella also discovers that when she does something dangerous, she gets glimpses of Edward. When she misses him so much she feels like she is going to explode, Bella decides to "cliff dive", which is a way to have fun at La Push. However, Bella jumps from to high a cliff, and Jacob, seeing her jump, manages to narrowly save her life.

Alice Cullen, (Edward's sister) who can see the future, watches Bella jump and tells Rosalie Hale (Edward's other sister). Rosalie tells Edward about Bella's jump, who then believes that Bella is dead. Alice then comes to Bella with the news that because Edward thinks she is dead, he has gone to the "royal" side of the vampire world: the Volturi of Italy, who try to hide the fact that Vampires exist. He plans to show the humans of the Volturi he is a vampire by taking of his shirt in the sunlight to reveal his sparkling skin. Alice and Bella quickly fly to Italy to try to stop this event from happening, for if Edward's plan carries through, he will be killed. Bella arrives just in time to see Edward taking off of his shirt and screams at him not to.

The humans did not see his skin sparkle, but Alice, Edward and Bella are still accompanied to the Volturi rulers/elders: Aro, Marcus and Caius. They are mad when they discover that Bella knows about the secret world of Vampires, and they begin to fight. It looks like Edward and Bella are both going to be killed when Alice has another vision- Bella and Edward both as Vampires.

The fighting stops, and Alice, Edward and Bella go home, where she asks the Cullens to vote on whether or not they want her to be a Vampire. Rosalie votes no, and so does Edward. Alice, Emmett, Jasper, Carlisle and Esme all vote yes. Bella wants Edward to turn her. Edward says he will, on 2 conditions: 1, after graduation. 2, they have to be married. Bella agrees.
