Clotho's symbol is the Spindle, as it was she who spun the thread of life.
The symbol of the fates is the Thread of Life, but each of the three sisters has their own symbol. For example, Clotho's symbol is the spindle and Atropos's symbol is the shears.
Clotho is named Nona in roman.

the fates
Death has often been used in connection with fate, as both are believed to be inevitable. Death can be viewed to be two different things. It could be the end of an earthly life that transitions into the decomposition of the physical body. It could also be the separation of soul from body which I tend to believe.
The Moirae: Clotho Lachesis Atropos
The Moirae: Clotho Lachesis Atropos
Before i write down my answer, i must say that this is a guess. The mythological beings known as The Fates, there were three, their names are Clotho Lachesis and Atropos. Clotho spins the thread of life, Lachesis measures it, and Atropos cuts it. Thus saying when you are born, and how long you will live. There are more details but I'm skipping them because they are irrelevant. The first one, Clotho. Cloth. So my guess is that the word comes from Clotho, whom spins the thread of life.
She spun the thread of life. She controlled men's birth and others believe she controled the god's fates as well. Clotho was the youngest of the fates and often is seen carrying around a spindle.
She and her sisters, the moirae, decided the length of all humans' lives. They had no time to marry.
