There is no symbolic meaning to finding a cat, unless you are a part of a culture which attaches some kind of meaning to it. Meanings are attributes of a decision making process. So if you decide that you want something to mean something it can do that. For example you could set out on a journey and decide to walk straight until you see a a cat, then you decide to turn right until you see another one, then you decide to turn left and so on. You yourself have generated the meaning.
