Balance of power.
A principle of government that Baron Montesquieu made and thought was the best form of government is called separation of powers. The system that allows each branch to prevent the others from becoming too powerful is called checks and balances.
Checks and Balance.
To keep one branch of government from having more power than another there is a checks and balance system in place.
The legislative branch of the federal government is called the Congress.
No branch of government has ultimate control. Thankfully we have something called separation of powers (checks and balances). Example Congress legislative branch make laws. the president executive branch enforces them. the courts the judicial branch decides whether the law are constitutional. They interpret the law. Sadly over the years congress and given powers and extended the powers to the president.
A settlement that is ruled by a government in another country is called a colony. The original thirteen colonies were under the control of the British government.
The Legislative Branch
The legislative branch is called the Congress.
It is called annexation or intervention when one government takes control over another forcibly or through other means, often leading to political or territorial changes.
Executive
President Obama is in the Executive Branch of the government. (Congress is the Legislative Branch, and the Supreme Court is called the Judicial Branch.)
What is an economy that has little government control called?
