They are extremely intelligent, willing, brave, and passionate horses. They are more likely to stand and face danger than run away from it, which is why they are so good at bull fighting. They are hot blooded horses, so they can be very fiery and passionate, but they are still extremely willing and sweet tempered. They tend to love people and socializing, and they thrive on positive reinforcement training. They are very emotional horses, and can become extremely upset when admonished, so positive reinforcement and a calm and steady hand are the key to successfully training an Andalusian.
The Andalusian, although classified as a warmblood breed is known for being fiery yet gentle natured. In Spain stallions are ridden by children and therefore they must be calm and good natured, if not they are not allowed to breed and pass on their temperament.
