Does a hawk live in a hot or cold environment?

There are many types of hawks (order Falconiformes, family Accipiter and Buteo). They live on all six major continents. Some of them migrate, living in one climate for the winter and moving to a warmer area in the summer, when they breed.

The Red-Shouldered Hawk lives from southern Ontario (temperate) to northern Mexico (tropical). The Broad-Winged Hawk lives in the eastern USA in the summer, and migrates to the northern half of South America for the winter. The Cooper's Hawk have a range extending from the Canadian Prairies to the south of Mexico.

The Northern Goshawk lives from the Arctic to Mexico, so it can survive in many environments. The Harris's Hawk only lives in hot areas, from Mexico to the middle of South America.

So, some Hawks live in hot environments, some in cold areas and some in both. Most of them prefer to make their nests in trees, but a few will nest on the ground.
